The idea of creating a list came to me when I tried to look up the people that have been awarded purple hearts and realized that there is not a complete list of names. I was very surprised by this because of the amount of sacrifice our brave soldiers had to demonstrate to receive this distinction. We recently had the honor of meeting a man that Dad served with in Vietnam; it had been 40 years since they had seen each other. With the recent passing of one of the last WWI veterans it became apparent that we are losing a part of our history at an alarming rate. With each passing of a war hero their stories are dying as well. We need to document these stories before they are gone forever.

Matt’s Dad is the recipient of 3 purple hearts and it is because of him that I have started this mission. If you would ask him or the countless others that have received medals through heroic deeds they would say that it was not a big deal but it should be a big deal to each and every one of us. Mr. Roland Campos is the greatest hero I have had the privilege of meeting and I dedicate this site to him. Thank you Dad for being such a good man, father, husband, brother, grandpa and American hero. If you or someone you know has received a medal of distinction please take the time to share your story with us. If you do not wish to share the story of how you received the medal please give your name, rank, service branch and medal and have it added to the other heroes on this page.
